Undercover Hot Dog {Toddler Friendly Recipe}

This little trick of hiding healthy food inside a hot dog bun got my toddler eating chicken & carrots!

First boil your chicken.  Add shredded carrots and boil alongside the chicken so that they become soft and pick up some of the chicken flavor.

Once chicken is cooked, about 30 mins, take it out of the pot and shred it.

Add the shredded carrot on top of the shredded chicken.

Into the chicken & carrot mix, pour either ketchup, BBQ sauce or both (whatever your toddler prefers).

Now, open up your hot dog bun and scoop out the insides.  This allows the bun to close properly and hide the contents and it also helps the insides from being squeezed out by little toddler hands.

Scoop in the chicken mixture and close the bun.

Ta da!   If your toddler likes hot dogs, they’ll take a bite into this appealing lunch and will be surprised by what’s inside.  What’s even more surprising is that they will like it and actually eat it!

You can serve it with a side of fruit, chips or fries.
